Digital Water Works CEO Dr. Paul F. Boulos To Give Stueck Distinguished Lecture at Missouri University of Science & Technology

Boulos, its Chief Executive Officer, has been invited to give the Missouri University of Science & Technology (Missouri S&T) Stueck Distinguished Lecture on April 26, 2019. He will also be a special guest at the Missouri S&T Civil Engineering Academy banquet event the evening of April 25. His talk is titled, “On Building and Sustaining Great Companies: Why Some Companies Fail and Others Succeed?”

Dr. Boulos is one of the world’s foremost experts on water resources and navigation engineering and the author of ten authoritative books and more than 200 technical articles on issues critical to the water and wastewater industry. He is a recipient of the U.S. Ellis Island Medal of Honor, one of America’s highest accolades; the ASCE John I. Parcel-Leif J. Sverdrup Civil Engineering Management Award; the ASCE Simon W. Freese Environmental Engineering Award and Lecture; the Pride of Heritage Award from the Lebanese American Foundation; the Distinguished Lifetime Achievement and Outstanding Community Service Award from the Rene Moawad Foundation; and the Lebanese American University Alumni of the Year Award. Dr. Boulos was inducted into the University of Kentucky College of Engineering Hall of Distinction, the highest honor the university bestows on its alumni; the European Academy of Sciences and Arts, one of the most prestigious scientific organizations in Europe; and the National Academy of Engineering (NAE), one of the highest professional distinctions accorded to an engineer. He was also awarded the Honorary Diplomate (Hon.D.WRE) by the American Academy of Water Resources Engineers (AAWRE) as well as Distinguished Diplomate, Navigation Engineering (Dist. D.NE) by the Academy of Coastal, Ocean, Port & Navigation Engineers (ACOPNE), the highest honors for both academies. He is a Distinguished Member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the Society’s highest honor, and a Diplomate (by Eminence) of the American Academy of Environmental Engineers.

Among his many professional involvements, Dr. Boulos is president of ACOPNE and past president of AAWRE, and serves on the Boards of Trustees of both organizations. He also sits on the Advisory Group for the NAE Center for Engineering, Ethics, and Society; the ASCE Industry Leaders Council; the Advisory Boards of the Center for Buildings, Infrastructure and Public Space at Columbia University and the Environmental Engineering Science Program at Washington University in St. Louis; and the Board of Directors of America-Mideast Educational and Training Services, Inc. (AMIDEAST). He served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Chairman of the Board of International Advisors of the Lebanese American University and has been a member of advisory boards and councils for many organizations, including the Corporate Advisory Board of the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton Initiative for Global Environmental Leadership; the Buck Advisory Council of the Buck Institute for Research on Aging; the Dean’s International Council of the Harris School of Public Policy Studies at the University of Chicago; the Board of Directors of the American Society for Engineering Education Corporate Member Council and A Precious Child; the USEPA Science Advisory Board; and the External Advisory Board of the Civil Engineering Department at the American University of Beirut.

Dr. Boulos joins a prestigious circle of past Stueck Distinguished lecturers that includes Dr. Gene Corley, who led the federal investigation into the 9/11-collapse of the World Trade Center’s twin towers, as well as the principal investigator of the 1995 bombing and collapse of the Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City; Dr. Bruce Rittman, Director of the Swette Center for Environmental Biotechnology at Arizona State University; and Dr. Wayne Clough, President Emeritus of Georgia Institute of Technology and Past Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution.

This lecture is presented as part of the Neil and Maurita Stueck Distinguished Lecture Series for Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering at Missouri S&T. The series is made possible by a fund established by Maurita Stueck to bring additional outside perspectives to Missouri S&T students, and to honor her late husband, Neil Stueck, a 1943 civil engineering graduate of the university.
