Born out of the American Water Works Association, Water For People was established in 1991. Its mission is to promote the development of high-quality drinking water and sanitation services, accessible to all and sustained by strong communities, businesses, and governments. It currently acts across nine countries to bring safe water and sanitation to four million people.
The Water For People Leadership Council was founded by historic partners from the engineering and construction industry in 2014. Comprised of leading global companies in the fields of water/wastewater, engineering, and construction and governed by Principal Members, the Council provides guidance and feedback to Water For People on Global Programs operations and growth as well as diversification strategies. In turn, Water For People provides a platform for member companies and their employees to engage in global water issues and increase their social impact.
