Digital Water Works CEO Dr. Paul F. Boulos to Give CEE Seminar at Duke University Pratt School of Engineering

Denver, Colorado USA, September 24, 2019 – Digital Water Works, a leading global innovator of digital twin solutions for smart wet infrastructure, today announced that Dr. Paul F. Boulos, its Chief Executive Officer, has been invited to give the Civil & Environmental Engineering seminar series at Duke University Pratt School of Engineering on September 30, 2019. His talk is titled, “On Impactful Engineering Leadership.” Boulos will also spent the day meeting with faculty, students and senior university leadership followed by a dinner.

Said Boulos, “Many companies achieve success. A few achieve great success. But none seem to be able to sustain success for a long period of time. And many fail. The numbers reveal a dismal story: 75% of venture-backed startups fail, and the failure rate of all U.S. companies is over 50% after five years, and over 70% after ten years. In this presentation, I will examine the factors that cause this decline; specifically, the critical role of leadership and culture. I’ll also emphasize the importance of ethics and corporate social responsibility in business. I will draw conclusions from lessons learned in hopes of helping to improve the chances of becoming most successful as leaders of engineering firms and delivering superior sustainable performance.”

Dr. Boulos is one of the world’s foremost experts on water resources and navigation engineering and the author of ten authoritative books and more than 200 technical articles on issues critical to the water and wastewater industry. He has received numerous honors including notable technical awards for excellence in scholarship; the U.S. Ellis Island Medal of Honor, one of America’s highest accolades; the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) John I. Parcel-Leif J. Sverdrup Civil Engineering Management Award; the ASCE Simon W. Freese Environmental Engineering Award and Lecture; the Pride of Heritage Award from the Lebanese American Foundation; and the Distinguished Lifetime Achievement and Outstanding Community Service Award from the Rene Moawad Foundation. Dr. Boulos was inducted into the University of Kentucky College of Engineering Hall of Distinction, the highest honor the university bestows on its alumni; the European Academy of Sciences and Arts, one of the most prestigious scientific organizations in Europe; and the National Academy of Engineering, the highest professional distinction accorded to an engineer. He was also awarded Honorary Diplomate (Hon.D.WRE) by the American Academy of Water Resources Engineers as well as Distinguished Diplomate, Navigation Engineering (Dist. D.NE) by the Academy of Coastal, Ocean, Port & Navigation Engineers, the highest honors for both academies. He is a Distinguished Member of ASCE, the Society’s highest honor and the Hall of Fame of civil engineering.
